Australia PR Points Calculator For Skilled Migration
Calculate your eligibility for Australian Permanent Residency under the Skilled Migration Program. This calculator is for Subclass 189, 190, and 491 visas.
Navigating the path to Australian permanent residency can be complex, but understanding your potential is the first step. The Australian government employs a points-based system to select skilled migrants who can make significant contributions to the nation’s economy. This system, known as SkillSelect, assesses candidates based on various factors to ensure they have the right skills and qualifications to succeed.
Our Australian PR Points Calculator is a comprehensive tool designed to help you estimate your score for the General Skilled Migration (GSM) visas (Subclass 189, 190, and 491). While the minimum pass mark is 65 points, achieving a higher score significantly increases your chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA).
Use this calculator to gain a clear understanding of your current financial situation. For a detailed PR assessment and expert guidance on how to maximise your points, please book a consultation with our experienced migration agents.

0Frequently Asked Questions
What is the minimum points score required for Australian skilled migration?
The current minimum pass mark is 65 points. However, this is just the minimum to be eligible to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI). Due to the competitive nature of these visas, the actual points required to receive an invitation are often much higher and vary by occupation.
What is an Expression of Interest (EOI)?
An Expression of Interest (EOI) is a formal declaration you submit to the Australian government’s SkillSelect system to show you are interested in applying for a skilled visa. It is not a visa application but a request to be considered for one. You can only apply for a visa after you receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA).
How can I prove my English language ability?
You must provide results from a recognised English language test, such as IELTS, PTE Academic, TOEFL iBT, or Cambridge (C1 Advanced). Points are awarded for ‘Proficient’ and ‘Superior’ levels of English.
What is considered "skilled employment"?
Skilled employment is work experience in your nominated occupation (or a closely related one) for which you were paid. Your skills assessment authority (such as Engineers Australia or ACS) will determine the date from which your work experience can be considered “skilled” for points purposes.
Is the score from this calculator a guarantee of an invitation?
No. This calculator provides an estimate based on the current immigration points system. It is a guide to help you assess your eligibility. An invitation to apply depends on the points score of other candidates, occupation ceilings, and the number of invitations issued by the Department of Home Affairs in each round.
How do I claim points for my partner's skills?
To claim 10 points, your partner must be under 45, have ‘Competent’ English, and have a positive skills assessment in an occupation on the same skilled occupation list as you. You can claim 5 points if your partner has ‘Competent’ English. If you are single or your partner is an Australian citizen/permanent resident, you can also claim 10 points.
What is a "Professional Year Program"?
A Professional Year Program is a structured professional development program in Australia that combines formal learning with workplace experience. It is for graduates of Australian institutions in engineering, accounting, or IT. Completing one in your nominated occupation can earn you 5 points.
My score is below 65. What should I do?
If your score is below the minimum, you may still have options. This could include improving your English score, gaining more work experience, or exploring state nomination options. We highly recommend booking a free consultation with us to review your profile and create a strategy to improve your points.
