Currency of evidence refers to requirements that the skills and knowledge you demonstrate are up-to-date, relevant to current industry practices, and reflective of your current competency when preparing an RPL report. Here’s a breakdown of the key aspects of currency of evidence:

Recent Timeframe:

1. Project Reports: You must complete and mention 2 projects in your report. One project must be completed within the last 2 years and the previous four years. For instance, if you are writing a report in 2025, one project must be completed in 2023 and the other in 2021. This is to show that your experience, skill, and knowledge are fresh and relevant.
   
2. Relevant Work Experience: Though ACS considers your entire work history and experience, your most recent experience holds significant weight compared to the old ones. Your projects must be ongoing or recently completed projects (in the 2 years).
   
3. Professional Currency Evidence: ACS mandates that you complete at least two forms of evidence showing your skill and currency in the nominated ANZSCO code(s) within two years. This generally includes professional artefacts (publications, code, etc.), vendor certifications, or professional development activities (workshops, seminars).
   

Industry Standards:

1. Current Practices: Your report must show your knowledge of current industry standards, methodologies, and best practices. Thus, mention modern software development lifecycles (e.g., Agile, DevOps), relevant security protocols, cloud technologies, or current programming paradigms, if applicable to your role.
   
2. Problem-Solving Skills: You must showcase how your solutions address current challenges and requirements in the ICT industry.
   
3. Tool and Technology Versions: When describing tools and technology, do not mention their names but instead mention the versions or specific contexts that reflect current usage rather than outdated systems.
   

Relevance to the Qualification:

1. ANZSCO Alignment: The evidence you provide in the report must be directly relevant to your chosen ANZSCO code.
   
2. ICT Core Body of Knowledge (CBOK): While you may not have a formal qualification, your RPL report must show that your acquired knowledge aligns with the ACS’s ICT Core Body of Knowledge.
   
3. Specific Competencies: Each piece of evidence should clearly link to and support the specific competencies and knowledge areas required for your occupation.
   

Demonstrates Current Competency:

1. Active Application: Since it’s not enough to simply learn a skill, you must show you can perform it effectively. Therefore, your report must show that you actively use and apply your ICT skills in your current or most recent roles.
   
2. Practical Examples: This is where the detailed project reports come in. They provide primary evidence of your current competence by describing real-world scenarios where you applied your skills to solve problems and achieve outcomes.
   
3. Continuous Professional Development (CPD): Mentioning recent training, certifications, workshops, professional memberships, or self-study (especially those completed in the last two years) helps show your commitment to staying current and maintaining your competency in the rapidly evolving ICT field.
